Telehealth Consultations
Telehealth consultations are a great service that enable you to speak to you doctor from the comfort of your home. Telehealth is convenient for you and your family when you need to speak to a doctor but are unable to attend a consultation in person.
Southern Doctors Clinic offers two types of telehealth consultations:
Telehealth Video consultations
Telehealth Phone consultations
Please note that as per Medicare guidelines, patients are only eligible for a telehealth appointment given they have attended for an in-person appointment at the practice within the past 12 months. Depending on the circumstances, your doctor may ask that you see them in person rather than speaking to them via telehealth.
What is a Telehealth consultation?
Telehealth Video Consultations
Video consultations are the preferred method of telehealth at Southern Doctors Clinic. Therefore, we recommend that you book your telehealth appointment as a video consultation.
Telehealth Video enables you doctor to not only speak to you, but also to see you virtually during your consult. From a patient perspective, it is also a great way for you to show your GP anything that may be concerning you. All your need is a smart phone, tablet/ipad or laptop/PC with a camera and microphone access and an internet connection.
You will be sent an SMS with a link when your doctor is ready to begin your consult. You are then to click the link. A pop-up may appear request camera and microphone access; enable this and your consultation will begin!
If you require any prescriptions, specialist referrals, imaging/pathology referrals or results after your appointment, we are able to send these to you via email or SMS.
If you need further clarification on how the process works, please contact reception on (02) 9789 5955 who will be able to assist.
Please note that as with in-person consultations, there is a fee payable for all telehealth consultations in accordance with our fees unless you qualify for bulk-billing. A receptionist will contact you to collect payment via phone.
Telehealth Phone Consultations
We recommend telephone consultations to patients who do not have a smartphone, tablet, computer or internet access.
You will receive a phone call to your preferred contact number when your doctor is ready to begin your consultation.
If you require any prescriptions, specialist referrals, imaging/pathology referrals or results after your appointment, we are able to send these to you via email or SMS.
Please note that as with in-person consultations, there is a fee payable for all telehealth consultations in accordance with our fees unless you qualify for bulk-billing. A receptionist will contact you to collect payment via phone.
