Recalls & Reminders
We have a recall and reminder system in place to ensure patients discuss their results with their GP.
What is a recall?
A recall is when you are contacted by our practice (normally via SMS or the HotDoc app) and encouraged to book a follow-up appointment with your doctor. There are many reasons that a patient might be recalled, but the most common reason is to discuss your recent blood test results and/or imaging results.
Our doctors check test results and reports daily. When they review a result that they need to discuss with you, they will commence a recall process to ensure they see you in a follow-up appointment. If urgent care is needed, we will contact you right away, so please keep your contact details updated with reception.
The recall process
Urgent results
If the results are urgent, you will receive a call from the GP or nurse as soon as possible.
Non-urgent results
Non-urgent results are classified as results that need to be discussed with the patient but are not considered urgent. Normally, we recommend that patients who are recalled for non-urgent results are booked a follow-up appointment within 2 weeks of the notification to ensure timely attention to any abnormalities.
No action (normal) results
A no action result means that no follow-up is necessary. Patients with no action results will not hear from us, or they may receive a text message stating that no action is required at this stage.
You donβt need to make an appointment for normal results, but if you have concerns or feel worse, we encourage you to schedule an appointment to discuss them.
What is a reminder?
Our doctors want the best for you, and this includes not only treating current conditions but also implementing preventative care. We understand that you live a busy life and itβs easy to forget important health checks throughout the year.
You may receive a reminder from us to do your annual blood test, get a follow-up ultrasound or book in for a cervical screening test.
If you want further clarification on our recall and reminder process, please speak to one of our receptionists.
