🌍World Immunisation Week: Stay One Step Ahead of the Flu💉

World Immunisation Week (24–30 April) is a global initiative led by the World Health Organization to highlight the importance of vaccines in protecting people of all ages from preventable diseases. At SDC, we're joining the call to action by helping our community stay protected — starting with the flu vaccine.

Why get the flu shot? 💉

The flu can cause serious illness and even hospitalisation, especially in young children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with chronic conditions. Vaccination remains our most effective defense. The flu vaccine is updated annually to combat the most prevalent strains, reducing your risk of infection and severe outcomes. Who Should Get Vaccinated?

While everyone aged 6 months and older is encouraged to receive the flu vaccine, it's especially crucial for:

  • Children under 5 years

  • Adults over 65 years

  • Pregnant women

  • Individuals with chronic health conditions

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Other vaccinations you may be eligible for

While you're here, chat with our team about other important vaccines like:

  • RSV vaccine: free for eligible adults to prevent severe respiratory illness

  • Shingles vaccine: free for people aged 65 and over

  • Prevenar 13 vaccine: free for patients aged 70 and over
